Florida – Legislator Lobbying Ban Struck Down in Federal Court
A federal district court in Miami has permanently enjoined Florida’s recent restrictions on sitting lawmakers from lobbying other governments for pay while in office as overbroad, content-based and not adequately supported by a need to combat quid-pro-quo style corruption. The measure was originally passed as part of a 2018 initiative that also included a six-year post-service lobbying ban, which the court has upheld.
