Maine – Ballot Measure Seeks to Ban Foreign Corporate Spending
Mainers will vote on a ballot measure Tuesday seeking to prohibit companies with more than 5% foreign ownership from making expenditures related to candidates or ballot measures. The measure is largely seen as a response to a Canadian utility company’s $22 million efforts to fight a ballot measure in the previous election cycle that sought to stop an energy project that they were involved in.
