Florida – Sweeping New Ethics Law Passes Committee
SB 734, a new Florida ethics law that would require registration with any county, municipality, or special district for direct, procurement, or good will lobbying, and supersede all current local lobby laws, has passed its second committee vote unanimously. The law would also expand the list of officials covered by the lobby law, and ban candidates from accepting contributions from “countries of concern,” including China, Russia, Iran, and several others. If passed, the bill would become effective July 2024.
