Maine – Maine Faces Lawsuit Over New Voter-Approved Campaign Finance Limit

The Institute for Free Speech has filed a lawsuit in Maine challenging the state’s recently passed limits and disclosure requirements on contributions to PACs.  The lawsuit alleges the requirements violate various First Amendment rights including association and free speech absent a sufficient justification and while being overly broad and underinclusive. The measure passed with 75% of voters approving in the 2024 general election.
