Federal – Bills Regulating Deepfake Technology Introduced

Legislation regulating the use of artificial intelligence created deepfake technology in federal elections has been introduced in both the Senate and the House.  The technology may be used to create falsified but realistic looking images and videos that may contribute to voter disinformation.  While the likelihood of passage for either bill remains unclear, especially in time for the 2024 elections, observers believe that the technology will eventually see federal legislation regulating its use.
