Federal – Lawsuit Aims to Close Party Disclosure Loophole

OpenSecrets and Campaign Legal Center have filed suit in federal court challenging the lack of disclosure requirements for donors to political party special purpose accounts that are used to pay for legal, headquarters, and convention expenses.  While there have been previous attempts to require disclosure through legislative and regulatory action following the creation of these accounts in 2014, none have been successful.
