Ohio – Political Contributions from Non-Citizens Banned
The Sixth Circuit lifted an injunction barring enforcement of Ohio’s recently passed ban on non-citizen contributions to ballot measures and candidates on Tuesday. The law is currently in effect, and committees may not utilize contributions received from non-citizens, including lawful permanent residents, for political purposes in Ohio. It is unclear whether the Supreme Court will weigh in on the case before the election.
