Texas – Federal Judge Dismisses Lawsuit over Austin’s Campaign Finance Rule

U.S. District Court Judge Robert Pitman dismissed a lawsuit filed against Austin’s campaign finance rule that says a candidate cannot raise more than $47,000 from outside city limits during an election. The judge said the cap could be unconstitutional, but that since the case is set to be heard by the Ethics Review Commission next week, it is up to it to decide.
